BMAT: BioMedical Admission Test for Medical and Dental Application
The BMAT (BioMedical Admission Test) measures students ability to apply mathematical and scientific temper in the field of medicine and health science. The BMAT Score represents whether you would be able to study and complete rigorous coursework in medicine. Medical schools across United Kingdom, Rest of the Europe, Asia and may other locations consider BMAT Score as a benchmark of success. Prospective students willing to pursue a course in medical sciences need BMAT Score to apply to medical schools.
BMAT is pen and paper based test. The test is divided over three sections: Sections 1 and 2 are multiple-choice, and Section 3 is a writing task. The total time allotted to complete the task is 120 minutes.
BMAT tests your ability to apply scientific and mathematical knowledge, as well as problem solving, critical thinking and written communication skills that are essential to university-level study.

BMAT Test Format, Time Required and No. of Questions
BMAT Section 1: Aptitude and Skills
Generic skills in problem solving, understanding arguments, and data analysis and inference.
- Questions: 35 multiple-choice questions
- Timing: 60 minutes
BMAT Section 2: Scientific Knowledge and Applications
The ability to apply scientific knowledge typically covered in school Science and Mathematics by the age of 16 (for example, GCSE in the UK and IGCSE internationally).
- Questions: 27 multiple-choice questions
- Timing: 30 minutes
BMAT Section 3: Writing Task
The ability to select, develop and organise ideas, and to communicate them in writing, concisely and effectively.

Chulalongkorn
University will only accept BMAT results from the August session for
the Doctor of Medicine course. If you are applying for this course at
Chulalongkorn University, you must take the test in August only.

How to prepare for BMAT
BMAT is about your scientific temperament and ability to apply scientific knowledge and mathematics in the field of medical sciences/health sciences. Its not about how much you know; indeed its about decision taking, application of knowledge and idea and ability to handle complex problems. The BMAT measure your medical school success.
