HPAT: Health Professions Admission Test in UK

The Health Professions Admission Test (HPAT) is a professional three hour admission test used by the University of Ulster for study in the Allied Health Professions. Students in their final year of secondary schooling or higher and having good academics are eligible for HPAT-Ulster.

HPAT: Format

HPAT-Ulster is of three hours and comprises of three sections. Sections 1 and 2 consists of multiple-choice questions while the third section is a written communication. 

Section 1: Critical Reasoning

This section consists of questions based on general interest, science and social science. The questions are represented in diagrammatic, tabular and text forms. This section aims to assess the reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Duration: 65 minutes

Section 2: Interpersonal Understanding 

This section emphasis is on working and understanding people. It consists of questions based on different scenarios, dialogue conversations and narratives. It measures the behaviour and responses of the people.

  • Duration: 55 minutes

Section 3: Written Communication 

This section comprises of two tasks. First task involve graphically represented information on social issues and other task is a reflective essay. It basically assesses how the ideas are formulated, unified and communicated into a purposeful and relevant response to the task. Each task is graded using a set of specifically designed assessment criteria.

  • Duration: 60 minutes

HPAT: Registration and Fees

Create an account at ACER  (Website: https://registration.acer.edu.au/) and register for HPAT. Check the official website for fee and refund policy. Payment is by credit card- Mastercard or VISA and must be made at the time of registration.

HPAT: Results

HPAT-Ulster results are valid for two years. Candidates must log in to their account to access their results.

You need to carry Photo-bearing Identification proof like a valid passport, a current driver’s license, or an electoral identity card, or a certified letter of identification.
