Thinking Skills Assessment in UK

The Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) is a 90-minute, multiple-choice test, used by UCL to evaluate the applicant’s potential wanting to study European Social and Political Studies (ESPS) at UCL.  

Format

The TSA UCL is a 90 minute multiple-choice, paper-based test. It comprises of 50 questions, assessing problem-solving and critical thinking skills of the applicant’s.
  • Total No. of questions: 50 

Problem-Solving

The questions in this part are based on numerical and spatial reasoning. 

Critical Thinking

The questions are based on Understanding the arguments, logical connections and drawing conclusion from the same. 

Registration

Applicants are required to be registered by the University. UCL makes all the necessary arrangements for the applicant’s desiring to sit the TSA. Register of TSA UCL at https://www.admissionstesting.org/

Fees

No fee is charged to sit the TSA at UCL.

Scoring and Results

Each question is worth 1 mark.  The marking process is automated. Scores are calculated on the TSA scale that ranges from 0-100 to one decimal place. The scale is an appraisal of the applicant’s capability and uses the Rasch statistical technique for comparing and reaching the final result. 

The tests results are not delivered to the applicants rather are sent directly to the UCL the applicant has applied.
