MLAT: Modern Languages Admissions Test

The Modern Languages Admissions Test (MLAT) is a tests for applicants desiring to study certain undergraduate degrees in Modern Languages or Linguistics at the University of Oxford and their joint schools. The Admission Testing Service in collaboration with the University of Oxford administers the test. 

Format

The MLAT are paper-based tests, comprising of several parts for different language and linguistics courses. Applicants are required to take a maximum of two papers. The Modern Languages and Linguistics Admissions tests are conducted in following papers: Czech, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Italian, Linguistics, Modern Greek and Language Aptitude Test (LAT). Each paper is about 30 minutes.

Registration

All registrations are made by the relevant test centres. You can sit for the Test at your school or college. If you don’t go to a school or college, you can still appear for the tests at an open centre. To find a centre, visit https://www.admissionstesting.org/find-a-centre/

Fees

The fee varies from year to year. Check the official website for fee and payment details. Some centres charge an additional administration fee – check with your respective centre.
