PAT: Physics Aptitude Test

The Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) is a subject-specific admissions test for applicants wanting to study Engineering, Material Science and Physics Undergraduate degree course at University of Oxford. The Admission Testing Service in collaboration with the University of Oxford administers the test.

PAT Physics Aptitude Test Format

The PAT is a 2 hour paper-based test and consists of two parts.

Part 1: Aptitude Tests (Mathematics for Physics)

Questions are based on Elementary mathematics, Algebra, Calculus, and Physics.

Part 2: Aptitude Tests (Physics)

Questions are taken from topics such as Mechanic, Waves and optics, electricity, mathematics, and problem-solving.

PAT Physics Aptitude Test Registration and Fees

All registrations are made by the relevant test centres. You can sit for the Test at your school or college. If you don’t go to a school or college, you can still appear for the tests at an open centre. To find a centre, visit https://www.admissionstesting.org/find-a-centre/ 

The fee varies from year to year. Check the official website for fee and payment details. Some centres charge an additional administration fee. Check with your respective centre.

PAT Physics Aptitude Test Scoring and Results 

There is a threshold mark which the applicants need to reach in order to be ranked on the interview shortlist at the University of Oxford. The threshold mark varies from year to year.
